Actually seeing a few birds is a bonus. The journey is the part that leaves me with such peace.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17105147380152551346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4732202925039933709.post-48814739206630076472011-04-28T20:57:34.013+02:002011-04-28T20:57:34.013+02:00This reminds me of Wallace Stevens in Thirteen Way...This reminds me of Wallace Stevens in Thirteen Ways to Look at a Blackbird:

I do not know which to prefer,
The beauty of inflections
Or the beauty of innuendoes.
The blackbird whistling,
Or just after.patbuckcreek@gmail.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08064084922114292066noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4732202925039933709.post-84937917759720395012011-04-28T02:58:20.528+02:002011-04-28T02:58:20.528+02:00I've been thinking about birdsong a lot lately...I've been thinking about birdsong a lot lately and this post touched my heart. As a person who writes and thinks of birdsong as a calling, I deeply know that silence is where it begins, and continues, and stops and starts again. It really is something the way he has phrased those words, "the silence they break." The birdsong would be nothing without what has just been before, silently, and is still there in expanse all around, waiting, when it's broken.Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14204074161539605133noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4732202925039933709.post-50953257400697157392011-04-27T17:35:06.543+02:002011-04-27T17:35:06.543+02:00The notion of birdsong chipping away 'at the h...The notion of birdsong chipping away 'at the half-locked future' is wondrously evocative. So, too, the idea that it is the broken silence that heals our ears, as Maureen has observed. Listening to the silence the birds break as the best way of being attentive and open to their song; is that where the healing comes from?Lorenzo — Alchemist's Pillowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07522265816460154722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4732202925039933709.post-48508739272911586012011-04-27T17:26:28.095+02:002011-04-27T17:26:28.095+02:00Lovely Rodin watercolors.
