May What I Do Flow from Me

Nude Woman Standing in the Sea

May what I do flow from me like a river,
no forcing it and no holding back,
the way it is with children.

Then in these swelling and ebbing currents,
these deepening tides moving out, returning,
I will sing you as no one ever has,
streaming through widening channels
into the open sea.

From The Book of Hours I, 12

  1. Oh this is beautiful. . . . no forcing it and no holding back . . . all the lines are the whole of life, sometimes thin, sometimes thick and ripe. To sing that life as it comes, in truth and openness, what a gift to the world. This is freedom.

  2. Thank you, Ruth, I love your image of freedom. I think too of my personal values that I hold as I flow along as a river. And then matching those values with life as I go out into the sea. May I be as one with my behaviour in the larger ocean. Amd so to sing you, the Divine, in congruency.
That is peace. That is freedom.

  4. Wonderful. I wish I could meet life and let it flow like this at all times but even once in a while to be like this is a gift worth treasuring.
Thank you for your inspiration here.

"Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night."

~ Rainer Maria Rilke

Go ahead, bloom recklessly!
