Not Caught in the Drama

Adam and Eve with the Forbidden Fruit

I can still only think of God as the One who allows everything, the One who is not caught up in the whole inexhaustible drama.

  1. how this pushes on my mind! what varied intonations on being human he makes. and just what, oh what, is god?

ha! he makes us so little, he strikes at our meagreness, in so few words:)

  2. A great definition: God = that which lied beyond "the whole inexhaustable drama."

  3. This seems to me another way of saying what Miguel Ruiz offers, "don't take anything personally" and "don't make any assumptions." God is not caught up in our stories.

  4. Well, yes, as Rilke (and Nelson) says, He's not caught up in our stories! Why should be? He allows us to be, and to be, in itself, is glory enough. Any divine interference - for good or ill - would be downright disappointment. To think that we can pray a little and alter the course of personal/world events? No thanks! The excitement of possibilty and choice is ours alone.

  5. What a fascinating concept, pairing poems and artwork. Love it! I'll definitely be back.

"Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night."

~ Rainer Maria Rilke

Go ahead, bloom recklessly!
